Quilting

I learned how to quilt from my mom who learned from her grandmother, who used trashed fabrics from the Lowell, MA textile mills to create enormous quilts in bright colors. Much of my current artistic practice focuses on quilting, which I can do stitch by stitch, in little stretches of time after my full time work as an art teacher is done. Mostly I’m making quilts for loved ones using improvisational piecing methods and found fabrics. I also incorporate experimentations with natural dye plants and traditional blocks through online and in person learning. A few of my favorite finished quilts aren’t pictured below because I gave them away and hopefully they’re all stained up and worn from lots of good use.
